Why did you choose to become a financial adviser?
It’s the obvious choice for me. I love to organise, have a logical head for maths, and understand that as much as we may not like to admit it, our money is important. When our personal finances are in check, we generally live happier, contented lives.
That is my ambition, to help every day, hardworking people feel financially secure.
What’s the best part of your job and why?
Meeting brilliant people, knowing I am genuinely making a difference for the better to their lives.
What’s the most challenging part of your job and why?
Keeping on top of all the admin within the hours I work! I like to stay organised, so I can meet clients’ needs as and when they need me, as well as for my own sanity.
What is it you do that you think is most beneficial in helping clients meet their financial needs?
I always treat everyone as individuals. Everybody has their own personality, their own dreams, thoughts and beliefs. I tailor every appointment and all advice to everybody's each individual needs. I am always honest, approachable and if there is a way, I will find it.
How do you spend your spare time i.e. hobbies, interests, charitable work?
Alternate Saturdays I give my time to Whipsnade Zoo, my love will always lie with nature. I'm a bit of a hippy at heart, I love to travel and be outdoors. I also like to draw and paint when the motivation kicks in. I am very much a people person, so the rest of my spare time is spent socialising with friends and family.
What’s your biggest achievement outside of work?
My life. I realised at a young age that this could be my only life, and how I live it and what I achieve is down to me. I have seen, experienced, and done a lot so far. I still have the motivation and drive for this to continue.
What’s the best piece of advice you ever received (financial or otherwise)?
When I was 18, I was upset over something, and was given this piece of advice...
'When you are upset, only you are upset, no one else, so why suffer? Cut the drama and let things be’. This helped me to lighten up, be able to back down when in the wrong, and learn to laugh at my mistakes and foibles. Forever grateful.
What was the best customer outcome you delivered in the last 12 months?
A very nervous woman enquired about life insurance. It unravelled that she and her partner were buying the property they lived in. I had to take her by the hand and answer her lists of questions every time we met. I provided them with their mortgage, B&C insurance, life insurances and Income protection for him.
